Where to find it on your appliance

Washing Machine

The model number on a washing machine is usually on a sticker or metal plate. Open the door and look around the rim.

  • Most common: Inside the door frame — open the door and check the rim around the rubber seal
  • Alternative: Behind the pump filter/kick plate door at the bottom front
  • Some models: On the back panel (you may need to pull the machine out slightly)
💡 Take a photo of the entire rating plate — it contains the model number, serial number and product code which can all help identify parts.

Tumble Dryer

Tumble dryers typically have the rating plate inside or around the door opening.

  • Most common: Inside the door rim — open the door and check the metal frame around the drum opening
  • Alternative: Inside the door itself (on the inner face)
  • Some models: On the back panel of the dryer
💡 On condenser dryers, also check near the condenser unit or water tank at the bottom.

Cooker / Oven

Cookers and ovens usually have the model number on the frame inside the oven door opening, or behind the storage drawer.

  • Most common: Inside the oven door frame — open the door and check the left or right side of the metal surround
  • Alternative: Behind the storage/grill drawer at the bottom — pull it fully out and look inside the cavity
  • Freestanding: Sometimes on the back panel or underneath the hob lid
💡 The model number usually starts with letters followed by numbers (e.g. ZCG63010XA). Don't confuse it with the longer serial number.

Microwave

Microwave model numbers are usually on a sticker on the back or inside the door frame.

  • Most common: On the back panel — a silver or white sticker with model, serial and wattage info
  • Alternative: Inside the door frame — open the door and check the inner edge of the frame
  • Some models: Inside the cavity on the side wall (left or right)
💡 If the microwave is built into a cabinet, you may need to open the door and check the inner door frame rather than trying to access the back.

Vacuum Cleaner

The model number location varies by vacuum type. For cylinder (canister) vacuums it's usually on the underside of the body.

  • Cylinder vacuums: Flip the body over — the rating plate sticker is on the flat underside between the wheels
  • Upright vacuums: Check the back of the main body or underneath the floor head
  • Cordless/stick: On the motor body near the battery or on the charging dock
  • Robot vacuums: Flip it over — sticker is on the flat base plate
💡 Dyson models are often labelled clearly (e.g. "DC25", "V8", "Big Ball"). For Shark, Henry, or Miele, check the underside sticker for the full model code.
